The future classroom will need to be interactive and engaging, which is exactly what Ubi is bringing to the table. All you need is the Ubi software, Windows 8, a Kinect sensor, and a projector.
What you get is a gigantic Windows 8 touch display.
How can I use it?
There aren't many educational Windows 8 touch apps, so I used Bluestacks with the Ubi in order to gain access to the massive Android app catalog. Because the Android apps are made for smaller devices, they tend to need less accuracy as far as touch, especially when blown up to 60+ inches.
The Ubi is meant to be used with the Windows Kinect sensor, but it functions well enough with an Xbox 360 sensor (what we have).
Conclusions? Overall this is a powerful combination of good software and inexpensive technology. The Ubi software is priced at around $379 and can be purchased on their site. An inexpensive projector costs about $300-$500. Kinect for windows: $249.99, or Kinect for Xbox: $99.99 (adapter required).
