SAM Labs

When using the SAM Labs kits in your classroom, the wireless setup helps make everything easier to integrate. With the SAM Labs projects, students can apply logic, reasoning, design thinking, and computational thinking as they build inventions and, not only are they great for coding in elementary school, each kit is also great for makerspaces and afterschool activities.

We’re excited to be able to present another dedicated educator with an EdTech grant. For the month of January, we’ve selected Kern Kelley, a middle school teacher from RSU 19 in Newport, Maine as the recipient! Among all of the submissions we received, Kern’s stood out to us due to the connections to the spirit of the Maker Movement.

The Curious Cars kit in particular comes with six pieces of technology, all very uniform in size, and all encased in soft, malleable plastic. They are clearly labeled in simple language, and the whole kit is very fun to touch, which is designed to be encouraging for learners and get them started with getting their hands on the technology.

Designed for groups of 2-6 students, the kit includes SAM blocks (buttons, lights, various sensors, motors, and more), accessories, and a Getting Started guide as well as a teacher’s guide. The blocks are wirelessly activated using Bluetooth, which enables them to move, illuminate, or make sounds.

A few weeks ago, we reviewed the SAM Labs Curious Cars Kit for the Eduporium Experiment and now this week’s edition has the SAM Labs Inventor Kit in store for us! SAM Labs is a British company who’s committed to bringing hands-on STEAM to early education and have created three innovative kits that do just that.
