The Dash and Dot Robots are a favorite among educators when it comes to coding in school. Since many students are no longer able to enjoy this, however, coding in remote learning has become the next best thing. Using the virtual Dash robot, which can be accessed through Class Connect, students are able to continue their coding from home!

With a Class Connect subscription (that’s now included in bundle purchases), educators can access the brand-new Dash’s Neighborhood program. With this virtual coding environment, students can keep coding whether they’re learning in the classroom, at home, or a mixture of both this fall.

The Wonder Workshop team has gone above and beyond in ensuring their coding and robotics tools (or, at the very least, digital variations of them all) remain available to students who might be doing their learning from home. The availability of their Dash’s Neighborhood platform enables students to explore coding concepts and create the same authentic programs online.

In our newest Eduporium Featured Educator interview, we hear from April Leonard, who serves the students of the Mississippi Heights Elementary school in the Sauk Rapids-Rice School District. She’s done a lot with coding, including using the Dash and Dot and LEGO WeDo with goals of welcoming 1,000 students to a common makerspace in the future.

We spoke with Albert Lewis! Albert works with students in the 4-H Youth Development Program as part of the University of Maryland Extension in Baltimore City. He loves using STEM to connect with the students he works with and, even in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, he’s helped them find creative ways of using technology in their learning.
