It’s become increasingly common for schools to feature these types of spaces, which are designed to promote hands-on tinkering, breaking, collaboration, failure, problem solving, and creative invention using any assortment of MakerEd tools. In fab labs, students are free to create whatever they want in essentially any way that they want.

Though Instructables has been around for quite a while now, it’s still a very valuable resource for STEM teachers or any educator who is looking for some inspirational project ideas. Instructables is home to an online library of various projects completed by students, teachers, hobbyists, and everyone in between.

Though they do have differing views when it comes to what the most important components of learning should be, we think it’s safe to say that both groups want education to be fun! And, that’s very appropriate because the subject of this week’s Rising Resources blog is Funology—an online database for educators to find hands-on STEAM projects.

We are unable to award something to everybody who applies for our EdTech grant, so, this Holiday season, we selected a few of the applicants who weren’t chosen and sent them what they asked for. Alyssa Newton was one of the educators we sent something to and her students really seemed to love what they received.

The variety of educational technology on our store is always increasing. As new tech tools are brought into the education market, we’re working hard to make them available to educators in one easy-to-find place and at exclusive educator pricing. That’s not to say that our store is overflowing with every single EdTech product in the world.

Our team of innovators has created a one-stop online store for teachers to research and purchase the STEM and MakerEd technologies that will work best in their classroom. By providing almost any EdTech tool that teachers may need in one place, we have humbly come to think of ourselves as the modern-day ‘Amazon of EdTech.’

You know us. No project is too big for our team. We’re in the process of discovering just how true this is and how far this kind of attitude can take us. Recently, we teamed up with a midwestern chapter of the Boys & Girls Club to help them secure STEM tools for launching a brand-new makerspace this coming fall.

In the 21st century, students belong in the driver’s seats of their learning experiences. Makerspaces are such a great option for educators. They provide a safe space for kids to fail, get creative, and use their interests to help them develop 21st century skills.
