Internet access. In the US, I’m not sure if it’s a luxury or a necessity. However, I am sure that children today benefit from using the Internet to supplement their traditional school education. We know that there are books, videos, games, and countless other online resources to help children learn. The question is how do we assure that all students have this opportunity?

Through the conversations I’ve had with my students’ parents, I learned that the majority of them don’t have computers or Internet access at home. Many use a friend’s computers or visit the library when necessary. Without a doubt, this makes it difficult for students to access these resources or to gain meaningful practice with this technology. And I’m honestly not sure how to address it.

I’m curious if any other educators out there deal with the same difficulty. If so, please share your thoughts in the comments!
