In our newest Featured Educator post, we hear from Nick French, the Director of Teaching and Learning and Special Services for the Ocosta School District. Like so many other educators, Nick and his team have adopted targeted SEL approaches, including the Mightier SEL games, to help push past new difficulties students faced after the pandemic.

Like many educators, Jessica believes strongly in the power of STEM and community. She’s also seen, however, that it’s not always easy to achieve across-the-board excitement for some initiatives. That’s why she’s going to focus on student collaboration—particularly across disciplines—and help art and CS students build an interactive mural.

With the DroneBlocks app and curriculum, students can program the flight paths and movements of the Tello EDU using simplistic drag-and-drop blocks. They could also utilize DroneBlocks for programming some of the more advanced DJI drones, like the Phantom 3, Phantom 4, Mavic Pro, Mavic Air, and the regular Tello drone. Read on to learn more!

Each of the UBTECH Education robotics kits—Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced—are very engaging for students, offering opportunities for hands-on engineering, coding, and problem-solving using the unique components and sensors. This week, we’re breaking down each of the kits, including what comes in the packages, the curriculum, and more.

This month, we’ve selected Michael Jaber, a high school administrator from Sheboygan, WI as the recipient! Michael works at the Sheboygan South High School and he’s been brainstorming how to capitalize on the high levels of school spirit they have by brining as many students as possible together to work on a project for the whole school community.

History might not necessarily be the favorite subject for some students but combining it with VR experiences often enhances intrigue. There are a lot of virtual reality-based learning tools available to educators now—adding a lot of options for instruction. In this Rising Resources post, we’re going to tell you about one called HistoryMaker VR.

One very exciting update to the DroneBlocks curriculum offerings is the virtual coding simulator. Using this web-based platform, students can create block coding programs for the Tello EDU drone and control its maneuvers as it navigates a virtual but realistic environment. And, not to be outdone, the DroneBlocks Code platform is optimized for JavaScript.
