The micro:bit is one of the most popular technologies for educators to use in teaching coding. A compact and affordable tool, students can utilize the micro:bit board for beginner coding and eventually create more complex programs. Its true value, however, comes with its compatibility with other teaching tools, including the newest option, the littleBits micro:bit Adapter! With this specialized Bit, children can combine littleBits inventions and micro:bit coding using their Microsoft MakeCode and Python editors, creating new learning experiences in a less intimidating way!

The littleBits micro:bit Adapter is a new littleBits module that children can use for circuit construction just like the dozens of other littleBits pieces. It snaps together to other littleBits pieces and helps students and makers extend their inventions, taking creative constructions further. Like every other littleBits module, the micro:bit Adapter is color coded with orange signifying they're in the Wire group. The modules can change direction and split circuits into two or more branches when used as part of littleBits inventions. They’re also very versatile and easily adjustable and this includes the new littleBits micro:bit Adapter.

The adapter features a slot for their micro:bit boards and, once paired, students can control the micro:bit's functions with code. It’s ideal for children in Grades 3-8 and helps them build on prior STEM and inventing experiences with littleBits. The micro:bit Adapter connects the signals from your littleBits input and output Bitsnaps to the pins of the micro:bit connectors and allows for that transfer of information. Best of all, your students don’t need any prior coding or micro:bit experience to use it!

The littleBits micro:bit Adapters are now available on our store as an addition to classroom packs or other littleBits kits. Just note that the micro:bit board does not come with the littleBits micro:bit Adapter, but it's available separately on our store as well.
