Virtual reality is all the rage these days and is definitely primed to become a huge part of our lives, but is usually still really expensive to acquire some of the equipment needed to optimize the experience. The VR One, however, is a cheap alternative that embodies a lot of the educational uses of VR. It has its own apps and utilizes their personal smartphone to immerse kids directly in the world of VR with awe-inspiring new visuals! From exploring your own photo collection to touring a makeshift art museum, the VR One virtually transports kids to places they previously could have only hoped to visit! In fact, one of its apps even gives a tour of a city, much in the same way as Google Maps.

In playing around with the VR One headset, it was amazing when I first put it on and immediately saw the Eiffel Tower! Although not quite the real thing, it still felt amazing having that kind of view—especially as someone who has never seen it in person. Feeling like I really could have actually been in Paris was a pretty cool first experience with the VR One. I was also able to explore art by stepping into a museum, walking around and seeing the portraits for myself as if I was there—definitely a unique way to appreciate art in this tech-filled day and age!

The VR One gave me the illusion of instantly arriving in a new place and being able to enjoy the amazing sights albeit without the sounds, unfortunately. I was, however, able to explore and experience new places in a totally unique way while sitting at my desk and not spending a dime! Like a lot of other nerds, I cannot wait to see what the future of virtual reality has in store for us in the next few years!
